Underheat selected as one of the UK’s top AI Innovators for clean energy systems.

June 11, 2025

We are proud to announce that Underheat has been selected by a prestigious judging panel to become a finalist in the Manchester Prize, a multi-million-pound challenge prize from the UK’s Department for Science, Innovation and Technology.

As part of this initiative, we will receive support to accelerate our work developing AI-driven heating and cooling technologies that make homes more energy efficient, affordable to live in and ready for a low carbon future.

Our winning project, EnergyWall focuses on combining digital surveying, machine learning and precision manufacturing to design externally mounted, heat-emitting wall systems. These systems integrate seamlessly with heat pumps and building bricks to significantly reduce household fuel bills.

“This recognition is a major milestone for Underheat, we are thrilled to have been selected by a judging panel with deep expertise in diverse subject fields. It highlights the urgent need to rethink how buildings are heated and cooled as we face climates that are increasingly unpredictable and extreme. We are excited to demonstrate the positive role AI can play in making retrofitting faster, more effective, and accessible to all at scale.” - Zac, Founder

With support from this programme, we are scaling up our cloud-to-construction platform - combining 2D imagery, 3D point clouds, and thermal data to automate retrofit design workflows and unlock a new generation of climate ready building upgrades.
